Bail Bonds FAQ

Straight answers about bail bonds in Virginia — cost, timing, co-signers, and what happens after release. Don’t see your question? Call us at (757) 751-0964.

How much does a bail bond cost in Virginia?
The premium is a percentage of the bail amount the court sets. Call with the name — we confirm the bail amount and give you your exact quote in minutes, in writing, before you sign anything. The premium is non-refundable, and we offer flexible payment plans to make it affordable.
How long does it take to get someone out of jail?
Our part is immediate — paperwork starts on your first call and we post the bond as soon as bail is set. The remaining wait is the jail running its own release process: city jails like Hampton and Newport News tend to move quickly, while regional jails like VPRJ can take longer on busy weekend nights. We stay on it until they walk out.
What information do I need to get a bail bond?
The defendant’s full name and date of birth, the jail they are held in, the charges (if known), and the bail amount (if set). Don’t have all of it? We can look the rest up. You will also need a valid ID and a payment method.
Do I get the bail bond money back?
The bond premium is non-refundable — it is the price of the service. If you instead post the full bail amount in cash directly with the court, that money is returned after the case concludes (minus court fees), as long as all court dates are met.
What happens if the defendant doesn’t show up to court?
A warrant is issued and the bail can be forfeited — the co-signer becomes responsible for the full bail amount. Contact us immediately if a court date is missed; acting fast can often resolve the situation before forfeiture.
Can anyone get a bail bond?
Most people can. It depends on the charges, criminal history, community ties, and flight risk. Some serious charges start with no bond until a judge holds a hearing. Call us and we will review your situation for free.
What is a co-signer and do I need one?
A co-signer (indemnitor) takes financial responsibility for the bond and guarantees the defendant appears in court. Most bonds require one — ideally someone with stable employment and local ties.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We take a down payment and split the balance into manageable monthly payments. Credit is considered but not everything — we work with real situations, not just scores.
What jails do you serve?
All jails in Hampton Roads: Hampton City Jail, Newport News City Jail, Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, Norfolk City Jail, Virginia Beach Correctional Center, Chesapeake Correctional Center, Portsmouth City Jail, Western Tidewater Regional Jail, and Riverside Regional Jail — plus other Virginia facilities on request.
Are you available 24/7?
Yes — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, holidays included. A licensed bondsman answers the phone, not a machine. Call (757) 751-0964 anytime.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, debit cards, and payment plans. For larger bonds, collateral such as vehicles or real estate can secure part of the fee.
Is my information confidential?
Completely. Every conversation and transaction is handled with discretion. Your situation stays between us.
Can bail be reduced?
Sometimes. A defense attorney can file a motion for a bond reduction hearing, especially when bail seems excessive. We can refer you to experienced local criminal defense attorneys.
What’s the difference between bail and bond?
Bail is the amount the court sets for release. A bond is what you buy from a bondsman — you pay the bondsman a premium — a fraction of the bail — and the bondsman guarantees the full amount to the court.
